Rock Oyster Festival 2017 — what a fantastic weekend!
The Rock Oyster Festival delivered brilliant live music, incredible food (those oysters were unforgettable), perfect weather and the chance to make new friends. I even hosted my first live food demo and cooked a crowd-pleasing pasta dish — more on that below.
Music highlights
The soundtrack of the weekend was a real treat. Land of the Giants, Echo Town and Backbeat SoundSystem stood out, and the NCB radio tent was where Jonny and I danced the night away.
Food favourites
What else but oysters? I couldn’t get enough — they were fresh, briny and utterly delicious. There were plenty of other great options around, but the oysters stole the show.
Memorable moments
One of the sweetest moments was watching a woman dance to a band as her excited dog leapt into her arms. It was an adorable, spontaneous scene that summed up the festival’s friendly atmosphere.
People who made the weekend
Aside from Jonny, there was a generous fellow I met who kept me very well fed — I never did catch his name, but his hospitality made a big difference to the weekend.
Photos from the weekend
Here are some of my favourite shots that capture the vibe, food and fun.

My food demo
It was an intimate setting and a small audience, but I cooked a big plate of crab spaghetti that everyone seemed to enjoy. If you’d like to try the recipe at home, I recorded the demo and uploaded it to YouTube.

Huge thanks to the Rock Oyster team for inviting us to join the celebrations.
Can we do it all again next year?
