Cookie Dough Truffles – Day 5 of 12 Days of Sugar

On the fifth Day of Sugar my true love gave to me . . .  Cookie Dough Truffles

Keyword here is cookie dough — I love it! I could eat it every day, and I’m just as fond of chocolate.

This little treat combines two favorites: cookie dough and chocolate. What’s not to love?

Enjoy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 pounds good dipping chocolate or candy coating (milk chocolate used here)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the vanilla. Gradually add the flour, alternating with the sweetened condensed milk, beating well after each addition. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  2. Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on baking sheets lined with waxed paper. Loosely cover and refrigerate for 1–2 hours, or until firm.
  3. Melt the dipping chocolate until smooth. Dip each ball in the coating, allowing excess to drip off, then place back on the lined baking sheets. Refrigerate until firm, about 15 minutes.

Notes

I dipped some truffles in candy coating and others in higher-quality dipping chocolate. Both were good, but the ones coated in quality chocolate were my favorite. Use whichever you prefer.
