Cherry Almond Oatmeal
When I want a more mindful breakfast, I usually choose eggs or a bowl of oatmeal. Breakfast matters: a hearty morning meal helps prevent mid-morning snacking and keeps energy steady. Oatmeal is my go-to because it’s easy to prepare and clean up, and it accepts a hint of sweetness if I’m craving it.
This Cherry Almond Oatmeal is one of those simple, delicious ideas that make it worth spending a few extra minutes at the stove (or microwave) to start the day on a tasty note.

Cherry and almond is one of my favorite flavor combinations. Last December I shared a white chocolate cherry almond quick bread, and I often return to these flavors when I want something comforting but bright. That inspired me to create this oatmeal version.

The best part: it’s super simple. Mornings can be hectic, and this recipe lets you get a delicious breakfast on the table quickly — perfect for before the coffee really kicks in.
How to Make Cherry Almond Oatmeal:
I make this in the microwave for speed. Combine oats and water (or milk) in a microwave-safe bowl and add a splash of pure almond extract so the almond flavor infuses the oats while they cook.

After cooking, I stir in a little brown sugar for a touch of sweetness. If you prefer less sugar, reduce the amount or skip it entirely — the cherries add natural sweetness too.

Finish the bowl with sliced almonds for crunch and fresh cherries for brightness. If slicing fresh cherries in the morning feels like too much, you can prepare them the night before.

This is an easy, reliable breakfast that tastes special without much effort. The only real prep is pitting and slicing the cherries, and that can be done ahead of time if you like.

Below is a straightforward recipe so you’ll have it handy when you want to make this. Adjust quantities to suit your taste — more or less almond extract, less sugar, extra cherries or nuts — and build your perfect bowl.
See? Pretty simple. This might just become a regular replacement for sweeter morning treats.

I hope this inspires you to try your own Cherry Almond Oatmeal. Enjoy!
