We love serving appetizers that pack an exciting punch!

Traditional deviled eggs — with pickle relish or classic yellow mustard — are always welcome during cocktail hour. But if you want to wake up your appetizer spread, these chipotle deviled eggs bring bold, smoky heat in every bite.

What makes this version special is a single, powerful ingredient: canned chipotle peppers in adobo. The chiles are smoked and preserved in an adobo sauce of tomato puree, vinegar, garlic, and spices. A small amount mixed into the yolk filling adds deep smoky flavor and a pleasant kick.

These are a fun, simple way to remix a classic. They’re quick to prepare, easy to scale for a crowd, and full of flavor — perfect for parties or when you want a little something different on the appetizer table.

Cooking by the Numbers…
Step 1 – Boil the Eggs

Hard-boil the eggs until the yolks are fully cooked, then remove the shells and chill the eggs completely before assembling.
Step 2 – Cut and Separate the Yolks and Whites

On a sturdy cutting board, slice each egg in half lengthwise with a sharp knife. Remove the yolks by gently squeezing the whites or scooping with a spoon. Place yolks in a bowl and set the empty whites aside.
Step 3 – Make the Filling
Chop the canned chipotle peppers, reserving a little for garnish, and set aside one tablespoon of the adobo sauce. Mash the yolks until crumbly, then stir in the mayonnaise, mustard, chopped chipotle, and adobo sauce until smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Step 4 – Fill
Use a spoon or a pastry bag fitted with a large tip to fill each egg white half with about a heaping tablespoon of the mixture for a neat presentation.

Step 5 – Garnish and Serve

Finish each egg with a light sprinkle of cayenne or chili powder, a small cilantro leaf, and a sliver of chipotle pepper. Serve immediately or chill in an airtight container until needed.
