Potatoes are my favorite food — seriously, they could be the only thing on my plate and I’d be happy. I love them any way they’re prepared, and these Crispy Air Fryer Potatoes are one of my go-to sides. The air fryer is an appliance I use constantly now; it replaced my toaster oven for many tasks and made cooking crispy potatoes effortless.
These air fryer potatoes are versatile and forgiving. You can use any potato variety and season them however you like. They’re also much lighter than pan-frying in butter while still delivering great texture and flavor.

What kind of potatoes do you have to use?
Use whichever potatoes you prefer. In this recipe I used russets, which yield a softer interior because of their higher starch content. Red, yellow, or purple potatoes will stay a bit firmer inside but are equally delicious. All varieties crisp nicely in the air fryer.
What kind of seasonings should you use?
Anything you enjoy will work. Feel free to experiment — if a seasoning blend works on your chicken or vegetables, it will likely be great on these potatoes. For this batch I kept it simple with salt, pepper and garlic.
Can they be stored and reheated?
Yes. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to two days. Reheat in the air fryer on low to restore crispiness — the microwave tends to make them soggy.

To prepare, cut potatoes into evenly sized bite-sized pieces and place them in a bowl. Drizzle with a tablespoon or two of olive oil (or any neutral oil) and sprinkle with your chosen seasonings. Toss to coat evenly, then arrange the pieces in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
Air fry at 400°F (about 200°C) for 20–30 minutes. Exact time varies based on the size of the potato pieces and your air fryer model. Start checking at 20 minutes and shake the basket once or twice to ensure even browning.
Cook until they reach your preferred level of crispiness.

I prefer mine very crispy; this batch took about 25 minutes total. I recently used these potatoes in a French Onion Beef and Potato Bake and they were fantastic as a topping.
