Two-Ingredient Blueberry Angel Food Cake Recipe

Here’s a super simple and delicious blueberry angel food cake recipe that requires only two ingredients. It’s light, airy, and perfect when you want dessert without a long ingredient list or complicated steps.

For this version we used common grocery items, keeping the ingredient list minimal:

  • 1 box angel food cake mix
  • 1 can blueberry pie filling (or another fruit topping if you prefer)

Combine the cake mix and the pie filling in a bowl and stir until well blended. The mixture will take on the color of the topping—blueberry gives a pretty purple hue, while cherry filling would make a pinker cake, great for Valentine’s Day.

Pour the batter into your chosen pan. A bundt pan works beautifully and gives an attractive presentation, but a 9×13-inch pan is fine too. I’ve tried cupcakes and found the liners can stick, so they’re not ideal for this particular batter.

Bake according to the directions on the cake mix box for the size and type of pan you used. Times and temperatures will vary by brand and pan, so follow the package instructions for best results. Once baked, the cake is light and spongy—moist without being dense.

This cake has a subtle tang from the fruit topping, which balances the sweetness nicely. We like to serve slices with a dollop of whipped cream for extra richness and a pretty finish.

This recipe is perfect when you want a quick dessert that still looks and tastes homemade. It’s forgiving, fast, and a great way to use a favorite canned topping to give store-bought cake mix a fresh twist.
